Flegg High Visit to NCFC Control Room

In line with our Corporate Responsibilities and Ideals, Check Your Security has been working with local Secondary Education High School IT diploma course students over the past 6 months on a CCTV project part of which was a visit to Norwich City Football Club to view their controll room. The day turned out to be very enjoyable with demostrations of the cameras and systems plus DVTel giving overviews of new products and additions to the system. The students went away with a better understanding of the technology and CCTV in general which helped in their CCTV project which was part of their Diploma course. Background to this event is as follows:

Flegg High School Working With Check Your Security Ltd.

For the last three years Flegg High School has been proud to work with Carl Pace of Check Your Security Ltd in delivering the Higher Diploma in Information Technology.  This is part of a suite of fourteen qualifications developed in partnership with employers and universities aimed at young people.

The Diploma in Information Technology has been designed especially for those who are thinking of a career in the IT and telecoms sector.  It was developed by e-skills UK who worked with over 600 employers and representatives from schools and higher education to produce a qualification that prepares young people for further study and work.  One of the aims of the Diploma is to ensure that pupils receive an insight into what working in the IT sector is really like and this is where Carl and his company had an important role.

Carl was able to offer real-world experience.  From him, students were able to find out and develop valuable business and interpersonal skills that are not always taught in the class room such as how to identify a business opportunity and the importance of good presentation.  Carl also supported their learning through creating real-world scenarios for assessment, providing an extra inspirational element to the learning process.

As Luke, one of the students appreciatively said,

“Carl gave us a real insight into the professional world of IT – something we would not have had without him.”
