Check Your Security Attends Martyn’s Law Discussion at Kettering General Hospital
Check Your Security was recently invited to attend a special event at Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where key stakeholders gathered to discuss the implications of Martyn’s Law and the future of security within healthcare environments.
As the hospital's trusted security solutions integrator, Check Your Security attended the event in an advisory capacity, contributing to important conversations around public safety, counter-terrorism preparedness, and the evolving role of security technology across NHS facilities.
The event featured an impressive panel of speakers, including public safety campaigner and Martyn’s Law driving force Figen Murray OBE, Satia Rai, CEO of the International Professional Security Association (IPSA), and Michael Kill, CEO of the Night Time Industries Association and CTBIE Board Member. Together, they shared valuable perspectives on the intent behind Martyn’s Law and how organisations can translate its principles into practical security measures.
The session was hosted by SGC Security Services Managing Director Paul Macarthur, with additional contributions from Darren Barber, Security Manager and Local Security Management Specialist at Kettering General Hospital, and Nhamo Pazvakavambwa, Associate Director of Safeguarding at the Trust.
Alongside the in-person audience, the event was streamed live to healthcare leaders across the NHS, creating an opportunity for wider discussion around the potential impact of Martyn’s Law on existing security strategies, future facility designs, and technology investment decisions.
The depth of experience shared throughout the session helped move the conversation beyond legislation, focusing on practical, actionable steps that healthcare organisations can take to strengthen safety, communication, and preparedness.
